Haapaniemi Group members sitting around a restaurant table at Pavel and Oddrun's farewell dinner

We bid farewell to Pavel and Oddrun

Two valued members of our group have recently moved on, and we celebrated their time with us over a group farewell dinner.

Pavel Kopčil spent several years with the group working on optimising CRISPR-based tools for precise gene correction in hematopoietic stem cells, developing methodologies and in vivo platforms for the future transplantation of gene-edited cells into immunodeficient mice. He has been part of the lab almost from the very beginning, and his contributions have been tremendous. We will miss him greatly!

Oddrun Kristiansen leaves us for an exciting new role as Centre Manager at PRIMA. A fantastic next step, and one that means we will certainly still be crossing paths! During her time in our group, she played a key role in recruiting participants, collecting cord blood, and isolating CD34+ cells for our CRISPR-Cas Gene Therapy for the Blood Cancer Predisposition Syndromes research project.

The farewell dinner was made even more special by the presence of one of our original alumni, Ganna Reint, who was visiting Oslo and joined us for the evening.

We wish Pavel and Oddrun all the best for the future! 😊
