We presented our recent T cell and stem cell research at the European Society for Immunodeficiencies (ESID) in Maastricht, Netherlands, on 14–17 October. Postdoctoral researcher Katariina Mamia and PhD student Hatice Karabulut represented the Haapaniemi lab, sharing their work on CRISPR-based gene editing for inborn errors of immunity.
The theme for the 22nd ESID meeting was “Translational Immunology Beyond Boundaries”. It brought together scientists, healthcare professionals, and patient advocates to discuss how discoveries about the immune system can translate into better diagnosis and treatment for rare immune disorders and more common diseases.
Katariina gave a talk in a session focused on gene therapy development, titled “CRISPR/Cas9 T cell correction platform for inborn errors of immunity”.
Hatice presented her poster, “HSPC product composition shapes ex vivo CRISPR editing efficiency and stem cell preservation for inborn errors of immunity”.
We enjoyed discussions with colleagues in the field and look forward to building on these connections through future collaborations.
