Kata’s PhD defence

Kata has completed her PhD

We are very proud to announce that Kata from our group has successfully defended her thesis, Precision T cell correction platform for Inborn Errors of Immunity, on 26 November 2025! 🥳

Part of the PhD defence involved a trial lecture on ‘Haemopoetic stem cells as cause of cancer’. You can read more about Katariina’s disputation info on UiO news.

Katariina’s project at Haapaniemi Lab has involved evaluating the safety and efficacy of different CRISPR systems in patient peripheral immune cells.

This PhD was an adventurous and rewarding journey that brought me to exciting places within the field of gene therapy research. The project was a combination of hard work, dedication and immense support from my colleagues and collaborators.

I feel very grateful to have this project under my belt and I’m equally excited to set my sights for future career steps after taking a little travel break to celebrate the end of this chapter.
