Tuva has defended her Master’s thesis!

We’ve got yet another piece of positive news to share!

On June 7th, 2023, Tuva successfully defended her master thesis titled: “The impact of ADA2 downregulation on T-cell functioning of CRISPR/Cas9 edited PBMCs”.

Tuva has worked on her projected under co-shared supervision of Yasaman Pakdaman (post doc) and Janna Saarela (group leader and NCMM Director) and our group leader Emma, as part of a collaboration between Saarela and Haapaniemi groups.

Tuva and Yasi

During my year at Haapaniemi lab and Saarela lab working on my master project, I have learned a lot of different methods and advanced techniques, including primary cell cultivation, electroporation, ddPCR, and flow cytometry.

In addition to the practical work, I gained experience in presenting scientific data, and experimental planning and designing. I consider myself fortunate to have been welcomed into this exceptional group of researchers.

I am now leaving on a practical internship in a research group at AquaBioTech in Malta. I approach this new opportunity with confidence, thanks to the wealth of experience I have gained at both Haapaniemi lab and Saarela lab.

It’s been a real pleasure working with Tuva and we wish her all the best for her upcoming internship in Malta!
